Fantasy writers struggle with making fantasy races alien in thought and behavior, they always are "like humans but", I do not think I am better than hose writers, probably I am not as god as them, but this is what inspired my proposition :
Orcs exist at the extreme of alignments, there is no neutral orc, they can only have extreme positions.
Orcs could be evil soldiers, chaotic ravagers, or folk heroes and steadfast defenders of the downtrodden. They'd either be Chaotic evil, Loyal evil, Chaotic good or Loyal good, no neutral, their intrinsic nature would forbit them to have a milquetoast position on a subject, their fiery core would have them stick to a cause as fast and strongly as possible, they could not remain faced with a choice and not immediately choose the most radical solution.
This would make the old orc archetype possible, while still having them open to more good-aligned positions, without compromising their core system of beliefs. They'd all be orcs that have found a cause and went all in on it.
Also I want to see an orcish robin hood band, I think that'd be dope.
